Wallace shortlisted for Legal Business Boutique Firm of the Year award

February 2006

Wallace was shortlisted for the Boutique Firm of the Year award at the annual Legal Business Awards 2006, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on 9th February 2006.

The awards recognise ‘the best lawyers in the business…all of our shortlisted superstars are at the pinnacle of the legal profession.’

Wallace was commended by Legal Business for the firm’s growth strategy and high calibre instructions: ‘Under Newman’s leadership, Wallace has doubled in size and turnover in the past two years, building on its commercial property strength to establish its credentials as a full-service player, winning increasingly impressive instructions from existing clients, notably El Al Israel Airlines, and new clients such as Thistle Hotels.’

Legal Business magazine ‘leads the senior legal market sector; setting the agenda and providing punchy, but considered, news and analysis’.

Wallace was one of five firms to be shortlisted for the Boutique Firm of the Year award. ‘The awards take months of research and extensive conversations with the market, clients and other professionals…each firm to make it onto our shortlists had to be a plausible winner.’

In 2004 Wallace was shortlisted for the same award, in recognition of the firm’s thriving corporate/commercial practice. Since then, the commercial property practice has also gained momentum and following a number of key lateral hires has been going from strength to strength.

Rex Newman, Managing Partner at Wallace, said: ‘Being shortlisted for this award is due credit to our hardworking teams that have contributed to getting us to where we are today. We have consolidated our key departments in recent years and the commercial property team in particular has experienced significant success.

“We will continue to concentrate on monitoring our clients’ needs, building our core areas of practice and taking steps where necessary to ensure we are able to offer a complete well-rounded service.”

The firm recently received favourable recognition in the annual Legal 500 UK 2005, a sister publication of Legal Business magazine. Wallace was ranked in the following areas of practice: Commercial Property, Leasehold Enfranchisement, Property Litigation and M&A.
