Wallace Appoints New Employment Law Partner

Wallace LLP, the London based commercial law firm, is delighted to announce the appointment of new employment partner, Daniel Isaac. Daniel joins from Withers LLP, where he was a highly regarded partner. Daniel has extensive experience advising individuals and organisations on workplace relationships, whether involving employment law, partnership law, shareholders' rights or guiding an entrepreneur with a start-up business. His experience spans various sectors including finance & banking services and professional services. Married to a graphic designer, Daniel is particularly interested in the creative industries and frequently represents senior advertising executives moving between agencies.

He has advised on sex discrimination claims against major banks, wrongful dismissal claims in the High Court and acted for the claimant in what is widely thought to be the highest value and most complex whistleblowing claim brought before an employment tribunal (Hannoun v GLG). He also acted for the successful minority shareholder in the reported case of Croly v Good.

Daniel has been recommended by independent legal directories Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners for many years. He is described as ‘cool and calm', with the ability to ‘go straight to the nub of an issue', having 'intellectual rigour and a good sense of humour' and someone who ‘quickly grasps the issues and has a pragmatic approach’. The 2016 edition of Chambers refers to him as 'a great tactician’.

He regularly ‘tweets’ on partnership law under the moniker @tribunalmonkey and as a thought leader, he is frequently asked to comment on a range of employment law issues and to speak at employment seminars. He has been interviewed by BBC News and Sky News on topics as diverse as sex discrimination claims in the City, dress codes and discrimination against overweight people.

This appointment is the latest in a number of significant lateral hires that the firm has made from other leading firms. In 2013, Bibi Fakhrai, Property Partner, joined from CKFT and Alex Weinberg, Litigation Partner, joined from Quinn Emanuel. In 2014 Oli Goldman, Litigation Partner, joined from Hogan Lovells and in 2015 Frank Jennings, Cloud specialist and Commercial Partner, joined from DHH Stallard.

Daniel's appointment was covered in The Brief.

We are delighted to welcome Daniel to Wallace. It’s clear that Daniel shares our philosophy of providing clients with smart, practical advice based on legal knowledge, broad experience and insight into the wider commercial issues. He brings with him a wealth of experience which complements our already strong employment practice.
