Wallace is delighted to announce the appointment of James Williams as an additional partner in the employment team

James advises both employers and employees on the full spectrum of employment law matters, including day-to-day surgery advice, litigation, transactional support and executive severance.

His diverse practice includes acting for clients across a range of sectors, including education, financial services, advertising and technology. He is also one of a handful of specialist maritime employment lawyers in the UK, with experience including project managing complex and highly sensitive multi-jurisdictional crew disputes, advising on the Maritime Labour Convention, and drafting Seafarer Employment Agreements and crew handbooks

In recent years, his practice has had an increased focus on High Court litigation and arbitrations, with significant cases including: a partnership dispute; injunctions relating to misuse of confidential information, team moves and restrictive covenant enforceability; and an FA Rule K breach of contract arbitration.

Clients who work with James appreciate his "pragmatic and solutions-driven advice" and his ability to "find ways of doing things so that the business can keep running".

The Wallace employment practice acts for employers, senior executives, partnerships and partners across all aspects of employment law, from contracts and day to day HR issues to the impact of mergers and acquisitions, negotiated exits, dismissals and post-employment disputes. The team are sensitive to the emotional and reputational issues that employment disputes can involve and while it is generally best to avoid litigation, we are wholly familiar with Employment Tribunals and well acquainted with the High Court. We are also accustomed to working within the special regimes that can apply to financial services employment.

I am delighted that James will be joining our growing team. He has a great set of complementary skills to help Wallace’s balanced employer and senior executive practices grow in size and reputation.”
