Wallace advises the founder of Square Commodities SARL on its sale to FGE NexantECA

Wallace has advised Olivier Pellegrinelli, the founder and sole shareholder of Square Commodities SARL on its sale to FGE NexantECA.

Square Commodities is a research and data analytics platform specialising in the global renewable fuels market. Founded in 2012, the business has developed a distinctive position in regulatory-driven demand analysis for the renewable fuels sector, serving clients including major oil companies, biofuels producers and trading houses.

FGE NexantECA is an energy and chemicals advisory business combining market intelligence, analytics and consulting expertise across the energy molecules spectrum. The sale supports FGE NexantECA’s green molecules strategy by bringing together its global oil demand modelling and market intelligence with Square Commodities’ specialist renewable fuels regulatory and demand expertise.

The deal brings together two highly complementary businesses and positions the combined platform to provide a leading supply and demand intelligence offering across the renewable fuels market, including fast-growing segments such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel. The combined business will also build products through Lumen, FGE NexantECA’s AI-native platform.

Wallace advised on the sale of Square Commodities SARL with a team co-led by Ines Krausler and John Woodhouse with support from Stephanie Claridge (corporate). Oliver Rappold and Nicolas Kurz from Rappold Köhli Attorneys at Law (as Wallace, a LFA member firm) supported on the Swiss corporate and employment aspects of the deal. Anton Greber from DGS provided local tax advice. Ed Groome from GHF Advisory and Jamie Robertson from Altered acted as corporate finance advisors for the founder. FGE NexantECA was advised by CMS London and CMS Zurich.

Olivier Pellegrinelli commented:“Square Commodities has come a long way since 2012. Joining forces with FGE NexantECA gives us the platform and resources to do at scale what we have always done best….Without Wallace, this deal would not have been possible. They did a great job.”

Ines Krausler, Senior Associate at Wallace, commented:“Square Commodities has built an impressive reputation in a highly specialised and strategically important part of the energy transition. It was a pleasure to support Olivier and the whole team on this important next step for the business and work alongside international counsel to deliver a joined-up service.”
